Zagreb has witnessed a thrilling event – the American International School of Zagreb  hosted the inaugural International Schools’ Rock Band Festival.

This festival is a collaboration between the American International School of Zagreb (AISZ) and CEESA. It brought together high school rock bands from across the region to perform in Zagreb.

It was Paul Buckley (Director AIS Zagreb) who had this pioneering idea about bringing internationally minded students together from all over Central and Eastern Europe to unite and rock out.

Buckley says “We have come together to celebrate rock music and the soundtracks of our lives. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes rock music as being ‘born from the collision of rhythm & blues, country, and gospel; rock & roll is a spirit that is inclusive and ever-changing’. This weekend we celebrate the sound of youth culture and honor the artists whose music connects us all.”

This festival encourages collaboration between students and teachers from different countries, backgrounds and experiences. By working together, they can create something truly special – something that will stay with them for years to come. The festival also provides an opportunity for teachers to mentor their students in the art of creating music, which can be an invaluable experience for any musician.

Thanks to Yamaha Music School and Audio Pro Artist, students had access to the instruments and equipment needed to create an amazing performance.

After two days of workshops and masterclasses with well recognised Croatian professional artists,  the final performance took place on the stage at AISZ.

With this festival, AISZ and CEESA Schools are hoping to create a vibrant atmosphere of music, art, culture, and friendship in Zagreb – to be immersed in the music, to be the best versions of ourselves and to make magic that will last a lifetime.
