On April 18th, the American International School of Vilnius proudly hosted the 13th Multilingual Tournament of Lithuania, “I Speak, You Speak – We Communicate.” This national event brought together 15 teams from across Lithuania. High school students, representing schools from different cities and towns, demonstrated outstanding creativity, confidence, and linguistic proficiency in more than ten languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Italian, Belarusian, and Lithuanian.
Commemorating the 100th anniversary of Lithuanian Radio, this year’s tournament highlighted the enduring power of voice, storytelling, and communication. As part of their home assignment, each team presented a short radio-like production titled “Discover Lithuania,” showcasing a selected region or community of Lithuania in the language of their choice. These performances were evaluated by the audience based on creativity, audience engagement, and the richness of the community representation.
The competition part featured a diverse and engaging program, including impromptu speeches on contemporary topics, creative interpretations of fairy tales in participants’ native languages, multilingual story retelling chains, the production of social radio advertisements, and an interactive radio knowledge bowl.
AISV is very proud of all the participating teams for their strong performance throughout the event. Many awards were presented to both teams and individuals across all categories. This inspiring event celebrated not only linguistic excellence but also collaboration, creativity, and the joy of intercultural communication.
