Held on Saturday, April 11, TEDxTIS Youth—now in its 6th year—brought together 10 students from grades 10–12, each delivering compelling talks on a wide range of engaging and thought-provoking subjects. Year after year, this is an event students eagerly anticipate and strive to be part of, and this edition was no exception. Centered around the theme Trailblazers, the event celebrated students who dare to think differently, speak with confidence, and take bold steps toward change. This year’s lineup explored powerful themes including dreams, sports fandom, creative expression, and regret. One particularly impactful talk challenged the audience to reconsider the purpose of exams as a form of assessment, sparking reflection on long-standing educational practices.
Beyond the talks, the event also celebrated culture and the arts. Uzbek performances—including dutar playing and a boys’ dance—alongside an appearance by the Secondary Choir, added a rich and vibrant dimension to the experience. These performances showcased not only talent, but a deep connection to local culture, reinforcing that TEDxTIS Youth is about more than just speakers—it is a platform for expression in all its forms. The event also highlighted the essential skills that empower students to succeed—public speaking, critical thinking, creativity, resilience, and authentic voice—all nurtured long before stepping onto the TEDx stage. More than just an event, it was a dynamic platform that demonstrated what young people can achieve when given trust, space, and a meaningful audience. Ultimately, TEDxTIS Youth inspired its audience not only to listen, but to reflect, challenge perspectives, and take their own first step toward becoming trailblazers. A big ‘Thank You’ to the organizing team – Ryan Gluckman, Giuseppe Mineo, Ilene Giamanco, to the teacher mentors and all others who were part of making this event happen.
