Our Upper Secondary students recently had the opportunity to meet Lasko Džurovski, a renowned Macedonian typographer and graphic designer, for a thoughtful workshop on safeguarding the original Macedonian alphabet and typography.🔤

During the session, Mr. Džurovski shared the idea that letters are far more than tools for communication. They are material traces of a nation’s science, wisdom, joy, sorrow, and continuity through time. Typography, as the medium through which words are preserved and shared, plays an essential role in protecting cultural identity and collective memory.

Our students engaged deeply with the conversation, asking thoughtful questions and reflecting on the relationship between language, design, culture, and history.

At NOVA, learning is strongest when students connect ideas across disciplines and engage directly with people whose work shapes the world around them.
