Allons … zusammen … Learn! Think! Connect! Act! Global Citizenship in World Language Classrooms by Martina Mencer Salluzzo, French, English, Croatian culture teacher at the American International School of Zagreb

Aware of the world around them, appreciative of different cultures, engaged in contemporary issues both on a communal and global scale, such are students that we strive to have. Through standards that stress communication and intercultural understanding towards the curriculum which embraces themes of global awareness, empathy and a holistic educational approach, this workshop will demonstrate activities and projects initiated in elementary, middle and high school level world language classes of an international school.

From weekly routines of watching and discussing world news, to common themes and projects shared by several classes or the entire school community, presenters will share their classroom experiences, offer ideas, give samples of lesson plans, activities and differentiated assessments for multi-level languages classes, then open the floor for further exchange of experiences, ideas, and possible collaborative projects.
