Project Mars returns! Following the student launch of water-pressurized plastic bottle rockets in the fall, secondary students worked on phase II of the Mars Habitat. Geometry and AP calculus students expanded the original colony (from last year) with more rooms and tunnels, giving entire classes a reason to squeeze inside and learn about volume, air pressure, and project management. Geometry students were divided into crews with assigned roles to pull off the project. Thank you to Commander Smith for turning mathematics and science into something the whole school can engage with and learn from.
