Authentic Audience, Wonderful Writing by Dominic Carrillo

When student writing is directed at a broader audience, the quality of their work and authenticity of their engagement skyrockets. Their writing connects them to the wider school community, other students publishing their own work, and an audience of millions online.

Authentic Audience, Wonderful Writing is a presentation about how to engage and interest students in the writing process through publishing their work on Amazon.com. Because students know that they will have an audience beyond their teacher, they begin to think beyond their grade and really focus on producing a high quality product. This naturally heightens the importance of the writing craft and editing process, leading to meaningful, in-depth revisions, peer critiques, and authentic learning with a true growth mindset.
