Shary Marshall
Executive Committee Member
As Director of the International School of Belgrade, Shary Marshall has served in senior leadership positions in K-12 schools in Bulgaria, Germany, Israel, and her native USA. She previously taught in Taiwan, China, Czechia, and the USA.
Not new to the CEESA region, Shary spent five years as Director of Teaching and Learning at the Anglo-American School of Sofia from 2011-2016. During her time in Bulgaria, she served as the CEESA representative. She spearheaded a collaborative group for learning support and EAL teachers, using Google Hangouts to share knowledge and practice.
She will be awarded an EdD from the University of Kentucky, USA, in May of this year. Her research focused on the role of trust in leading through crises, and her research participants were international school leaders who faced multiple crises in various regions of the world.
Shary believes in the capacity of organizations like CEESA to make a real difference for the schools they serve and, by extension, the international students who attend those schools. Shary is married and the mother of a third-culture kid who graduated from the University of Exeter in the UK and works for a company that conducts cancer research in the USA.
