Alexandru Sota

alexandru sota

My name is Alexandru Sota and I was born in 1985 in Bucharest, Romania. In 1993, I moved to Bridgeport, CT, USA with my family, where I lived for the following 16 years.

I fell in love with the sport of football (soccer) as a toddler, from watching my grandfather play and receiving a ball as my first gift. In the States, I soon developed a new passion for basketball when I saw Michael Jordan play. Throughout my life sports introduced me to concepts such as diligence, creativity, and tenacity. As a student athlete I made many memories and also developed competencies in sportsmanship, tactics, skill-development and teamwork - These are things I try to now instill in my students and athletes I am coaching.

I graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 2008 with an Interpersonal and Relational Communication Bachelor degree, but would soon realize that my love for sport and working with the youth would focus my life in a different direction. Having moved back to Bucharest in 2009, I studied the basics of football coaching at Sporting Pitesti Football Academy. Since 2011, I have been at the American International School of Bucharest (AISB) and I am currently in my fourth year as a PYP PE Teacher. I am also an accredited interscholastic Coach with a decade of experience and consider myself a lucky person because I work with children of all ages and nationalities.
