The mathematics standards emphasize the growing importance and impact of formative assessment practices and the inclusion of assessment of the Mathematical Practices. The emerging models of computer-delivered summative assessments are changing how we gather evidence of learning and how we use this evidence to adjust instruction. Teachers are expected to plan and implement rigorous and diverse assessments – both formative and summative – and then gather, interpret and use the results of these assessments to inform instruction and student learning.
