This year, AISZ went to Spain in March for Passport Day.
AISZ Spanish families and friends decorated walls with posters donated from the Spanish Embassy. A Spanish video gave students an overview of Spain. Students wore Spanish colors, and Spanish flags were painted on their faces. Students made a Spanish flower called El clavel, and Spanish fans which, as they learned, have a language all their own.
They played a Spanish game called El Parchis, and tasted a Spanish treat. Prizes were given to students who entered their Spanish crossword in a drawing. The cafeteria even prepared a Spanish lunch. To top all of that off, our special guest, professional Flamenco dancer Mitja Obed, performed a traditional dance and taught our students some dance steps.
All in all, it was a fabulous day in Spain planned and sponsored by our Spanish families and the World Family Committee.
