Matt Kuykendall

Matt Kuykendall is the Head of Social Studies at the American School of Vienna where he teaches IB TOK, IB Psychology and an incredibly fun thematic US History course. Prior to Vienna, Matt spent 12 years at Shanghai American School where he also taught Psych and TOK.  Matt is the lead author of the Kognity TOK text as well as a co-author of Kognity’s Psychology textbook and a certified IB workshop leader.  Matt strives to create learning experiences for his students that are inquiry focused, relevant and fun while focusing on applying skills in authentic contexts. When not in the classroom you can find Matt in the Gym either coaching basketball or helping athletes be their best selves through strength and speed training.

Put Em’ to Work! Using Peer Feedback to Maximize Student Learning and Minimize Teacher Grading

In this workshop you will learn about the methods and benefits of creating a culture and practice of peer assessment in your classroom. How to utilize targeted responses to this aim and how to best structure the peer feedback process. During this session participants will generate a peer feedback activity for their students.

  • How can we increase the amount of feedback students receive while minimizing teacher workload?
