(For Athletic Directors/Coordinators) Components of Professional Coaching Practice by Kenny Macaulay

This course takes a basic approach to the professional fundamentals and methods of coaching athletics in the International School setting. Topics covered in this course include planning & preparation as related to school mission, beliefs, policies, & methods. Participants will learn about professional organizational resources in their particular areas or sport. 

Further content include topics related to the coaching environment, effective coaching, monitoring athletes, effective communication between parents, students & coaches, and Professional Responsibilities of the Coach Enrollees who will derive greatest benefit: Coaches seeking to define and improve their operational procedures & practice. 

Kenny Macaulay

kenny-macaulayKenny is the Director of Athletics and Activities at the American Community School of Abu Dhabi and part of the ACS Leadership Team.

A graduate of Nottingham University in England, with a distinction in teaching, he has 34 years of international school experience having taught in Vienna, Brussels, London, Cairo, and Frankfurt. 20 years as an Athletic Director and previously as a teacher of Physical Education.

Kenny has been involved in several international school strategic planning committees and task forces and has recently developed and implemented a Coaching Evaluation Rubric for international schools. He completed the Principal Training Center Certificate in International School Leadership and has presented at several ECIS Physical Education Conferences. In 2012, he received the Mark E. Ulfers Leadership in Education Award.
