Tashkent IS Builds an Aquaponics Greenhouse

Brian Kasper (Taskent IS )

Tashkent International School has constructed an aquaponics greenhouse which will provide students an opportunity to grow plants in water that has also been used to cultivate fish. The greenhouse was built using primarily repurposed materials to enhance TIS’s mission of sustainability.

The green house is being managed by Secondary School students who are working on multiple aspects of the project from growing the plants, managing the fish and pond, and promoting the products. Plants that are grown are used in the school’s cafeteria and sold at community events. This project is one of many learning opportunities in our new and developing Outdoor Learning Program.
