TIS is breaking ground on their Elementary School Additional Wing (E2W) to expand their growing elementary school.

TIS is pleased to announce that the school has signed a contract with Gabus Construction Company to begin building the new elementary school additional wing, also known as the E2W. The three-floor building will contain a large Multi-Purpose Room and will bring together the Early Learning Center, the elementary library, visual arts, music and drama classrooms that are currently in the main secondary school building into one space. The new building will leave space in the secondary building and House which will benefit secondary students as well.

This is a monumental achievement for TIS as it took six years to get to this stage with many obstacles to overcome. Special thank you to the board trustees and school leaders who spent enormous time and effort to make this project happen. The $4 million dollar project is being 100% financed through the capital levy from tuition payments.

The Gabus Construction Company was selected through a rigorous bidding process, You can see Gabus-constructed buildings all through the city including Oliy Majlis (Parliament), UzTelekom, General Motors offices and many of the retail and residential buildings on both sides of Shevchenko Street to name a few. They are planning to be completed in 9 to 12 months from start to finish.

Gabus started the mobilization of the construction site this week. A huge crane is being erected and the company is laying a track for the crane to access the entire length of the building. Gabus is also putting containers for the offices of the architect, construction manager and other key personnel.

TIS Project Manager Cyril Courjeau and TIS Facilities Manager Rashid Suleymanov developed an extensive safety plan to keep our students and employees safe during the construction process. There will be challenges over the next year during the construction but it is our goal to maintain an environment conducive to teaching and learning. TIS will be informing the community on major construction changes that may affect the school day.

We will have a groundbreaking ceremony next Friday, February 11 at 14:30. Due to COVID restrictions, the ceremony will be live-streamed and also available to watch on the TIS Vimeo website after the event.
