Three members from the International School of Belgrade presented at the recent CEESA Assessment Summit, which was held virtually. Educators from the CEESA region joined the presentation to learn how to effectively utilize school data. 

Aaron Kane (Secondary Principle), Elena Sentevska (Data for Learning Coordinator) and Kristin Westby (MYP Coordinator) from the International School of Belgrade led a collaborative and interactive session on Oct. 10, during the virtual CEESA Assessment Summit. Collectively, they shared ideas on supporting our CEESA community to understand and be able to utilise multiple data sets to analyze student growth, plan learning experiences and empower students to take greater control in their learning. 

During the first part of the presentation, the ISB team ensured that participants left with a shared understanding of MAP and how ISB uses data to support growth and empower learners. Principles of effective formative assessment were correlated to MAP. By opening the floor for discussion, the team aimed at ensuring the understanding of using MAP effectively as one tool to capture progress and support growth across our school. In that sense, the group brainstormed strategies and ways to overcome some of the barriers in achieving this task. Finally, to make it practical and applicable in other international contexts, the ISB team shared ways that the school supports growth by student goal setting, holding data conversations and using data to plan further learning engagements.
