Much has been made of creating cross curricular connections in the secondary classroom. It is often praised, yet seldom attempted. The IICS Grade 8 Science, Humanities, and Design Technology team set out to create an interdisciplinary project centered around the theme of machines. Some controversial practices were attempted, but the goal was give students maximum choice, greater independence, and a taste of self direction. While it was in no way perfect, they are inspired to share their successes, struggles, and experiences with working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary framework with a focus on transforming our curriculum to meet the needs of the 21st century learner.
*Important Note: This presentation will also include an IICS Science teachers as well. There was not a place to another name on this form.
