Trailers, Travel, Tunes, and News - A Multi-Sensory/Multi-Media Approach to Teaching ELA by Shelley Cook

Current global events, movies, travel articles, and music provides teachers a unique way to bring the world into the classroom. Students can develop a connection between themselves and the world beyond where they live.

Participants will be shown several ways to use movie trailers, music lyrics, travel information, and newspaper articles to teach Reading, Writing, and Language. Using a variety of media sources in the classroom will engage and motivate students, encourage critical thinking, and help students analyze information in a meaningful way.
