AISZ students volunteered in the “Boranka” project

On 21st of October, 16 High School students and 2 teachers went to Mosor next to Split to participate in the biggest volunteering action in Croatia so far: Boranka.

Boranka is a project of raising awareness of the importance of reforestation and forests by reforestation of burned areas of Dalmatia. It is organized by the Croatian Scouts Association and the Croatian forests, sponsored by various Croatian and international companies, embassies, and associations.

As a part of the project, all members in the school listened to age-appropriate presentations about reforestation and drew pine trees which were posted on the Boranka official website. For every tree planted on the website, volunteers planted one in real life. During the eight weekends of the project duration, more than 20,H000 trees were planted. The project also inspired many future voluteering projects in Croatia and established connections between schools associations.

Overall, the project was a big success for the American International School of Zagreb.
