“United We Stand, Divided We Fall”

The American School of Warsaw hosted the first GIN conference.

The First Global Issues Network conference in Poland opened on Sunday, December 2, at 8.35 AM for a full day of intense learning and presenting by participating students from around the world. This years 'GIN' conference theme was ‘Unity’, and its motto was, “United we stand, divided we fall”, the quotation from the famous Greek fabulist and philosopher and writer, Aesop. Students' focus for the conference was International Labor and Migration Rules and Education for All.

Activist Jordan Hattar, the director of Help4Refugees.org was one of the two invited guest speakers. He shared numerous stories of his experiences with refugees and world leaders. The second speaker was Mrs. Janet Wallace, environmentalist and expert in the gardening.  She gave the history of the gardening program at the American School of Warsaw that she is oversees. 

Colegio Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Bali Green School, also joining the conference, gave presentations about service projects in which they are engaged and  conducted simulations where students and faculty were involved in trying to connect the key factors in world power that could possibly help reduce the threat of carbon emissions and inevitability of global temperature rise.

The conference was organized just a day before the opening of the COP24 - the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change - that is taking place in Katowice, Poland. Both Lima American School’ and Bali Green School delegates joined COP24.
