2016 CEESA Fall Assessment Summit at the ISB

This year’s theme at the 2016 CEESA Fall Assessment Summit was Assessment for Learning. A variety of featured speakers presented on a wide range of topics related to this theme.

Teachers and administrators from all over Europe recently gathered at the American International School of Bucharest for the 2016 CEESA Fall Assessment Summit. Kathy Dyer, Senior Professional Development Content Specialist for NWEA, facilitated the event.

Dr Fran Prolman, founder, president and senior consultant of The Learning Collaborative delivered an inspiring Keynote address entitled Students Leading Their Own Learning through the Use of Formative Assessment. To name but a few, workshop topics included ‘how we can assess our assessments using protocols,’ ‘the power of providing feedback,’ and ‘integrating standards and inquiry into the classroom.’ The Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) testing tool was the focal point of a one-day pre-conference.

All untold, the event was very well received with attendees providing a lot of positive feedback. The general consensus seemed to be that participants walked away with a good range of theoretical understanding, as well as some valuable practical strategies that they could bring back to their schools.
