I’m originally from Brazil (Rio de Janeiro); hence Carmem ending with an –m (the Portuguese way). I’ve been an ELL teacher for over 20 years and have worked as an ELL teacher trainer for at least half that time. Having gone through the experience of learning in a second language myself, I am very sensitive to the difficulties non-native speakers can go through when learning English or learning in English. I also have extensive experience in designing curriculum and writing teaching materials both paper-based and computer-based. In addition to my teaching qualifications, I also hold an MA in Language Studies and a PhD in Applied Linguistics (Thesis on Online Learning) - studying is one my favourite things in life!
