Engaging Students Through Interdisciplinary Units: How to Make it Work in Secondary, by Michelle Bowman, MYP Coordinator at the American International School of Bucharest

Integrated units stimulate the learner by providing many types of learning opportunities that hook all types of learners. Interdisciplinary units are often more challenging to develop in secondary when students have multiple teachers and content is increasingly more subject specific. Developing interdisciplinary units can be achieved by finding links to cross disciplinary skills. Suggestions on how to find time to plan will be given as well as examples of interdisciplinary units in the secondary years.
